This training session aims to educate HR and line managers about menopause, its impact on women in the workplace, and the employer’s legal and ethical obligations to support them. It covers the definition of menopause, its stages, types, and associated symptoms. The session emphasizes the importance of menopause training for creating a supportive work environment for women experiencing this natural transition. It will also explore legal protections, available treatments, and support options for women going through menopause.
Menopause is a natural transition that all women experience as they age, and between 3 and 4 million of these women are of working age. Around 25% of these women will experience severe symptoms that will affect not only them, but the way they work, their colleagues, friends, personal relationships and family life.
This training session provides HR and line managers with an overview of menopause and its potential impact on women in the workplace. It discusses the legal and ethical obligations of employers to support women going through menopause. It also provides tips and strategies for creating a workplace that is supportive of women experiencing menopause.
By increasing knowledge on managing women’s health during menopause; we can all support the health and social wellbeing of staff.
Learning objectives
This course has been written by Diane Porterfield Bourne, a Menopause Nurse Specialist. Diane has over 36 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse and is an advocate for women’s health especially the menopause. She now provides private online consultations to women all over the UK and globally and prescribes medication within the UK. As a nurse prescriber she is qualified to discuss and advice on HRT.
She writes and delivers training to health professionals on menopause and HRT across the UK and Europe. Her special interests being HRT, emotional wellbeing and Neurodivergence during the menopause. She previously provided consultancy for Holland & Barrett and Admiral Insurance.
Her company – Bourne2Care – founded in 2013, has been a recognised service provider and registered manager regulated by the Care Quality Commission (Reg. 10908439115) since 2021.
