Sexual harassment can happen in any workplace. With employers now expected to take a more proactive approach to prevention – and strengthened legal duties coming into force from 30 October 2026 – ensuring staff understand sexual harassment and how to respond to it has never been more important.
Creating a culture where inappropriate behaviour is recognised, challenged and responded to effectively starts with ensuring people understand what sexual harassment is – and what they can do when they encounter it.
Developed by Purple Leaf, the training and education service of WMRSASC, this accessible online course provides an essential introduction to sexual harassment in the workplace.
In just 40-50 minutes, learners will develop their understanding of sexual harassment, the attitudes and behaviours that can enable it, and practical ways to respond safely and appropriately.

For 40 years, WMRSASC has provided specialist, trauma-informed support to people affected by sexual violence, abuse and trauma, while working with professionals, organisations and communities to improve understanding, responses and prevention.
This knowledge informs our training, and brings decades of specialist sector experience into an accessible course designed to help organisations build safer, better-informed workplace cultures.
Employers have a legal responsibility to take steps to prevent sexual harassment at work. From 30 October 2026, this duty is strengthened, requiring employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment and introducing additional protection from harassment by third parties, such as customers, clients or service users.
What is reasonable will depend on the organisation and the risks its workers may face. Taking a proactive approach – including identifying risks, having appropriate policies and reporting routes, and ensuring staff understand how to recognise and respond to sexual harassment – can help create a safer, more respectful workplace.
